The Smokey Challenge – 105km Endurance Ride

The original Smokey Challenge Trophy was presented by Sue Varnals, after whose grey horse the class is named.  Sue and Smokey competed together for many years at all levels.

Split into four sections, this class starts at 0715, having been vetted on Saturday afternoon.  The actual routes to be followed will now be as follows:  1.  Monarch’s Way (30km)  2.  Royal Oak East Grovely loop (28km)  3.  Pentridge loop (34.5km)  4.  Windwhistle loop (12km) – making a total of 105km overall.

Awards

The winner receives the Smokey Challenge Trophy and a commemorative medal.

There is also a trophy for the Runner-up, medals for 2nd and 3rd placed horses and rosettes to sixth place.

A Best Condition Trophy is awarded to the horse judged by the Veterinary Panel to be in the best condition on completing the ride.
